A vagrant is thought to have accidentally caught an empty house at 1921 E. Okmulgee Ave., on fire about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Fire Marshal Toby Webb said.
The fire seemed to have started on a bed or mattress on the second floor, he said.
The homeowner had not been living in the house for about three years. It took about 15 or 20 minutes to get the fire under control, Webb said.
There were no utilities on at the house, and it was not insured, he said.
It was nothing intentional, Webb said. It was limited to the upstairs area a living area got the majority of the damage, which totaled between $10 and $20,000.
Two pumper trucks and a rescue squad responded to the call.
