Gore girl hurt in crash

— A 15-year-old Gore girl injured in a single-vehicle crash was in fair condition after surgery Monday in Sparks Regional Medical Center Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.
Megan Smith’s mother, April Smith, said Monday that her daughter was in a lot of pain after surgery that could not be completed because of excess swelling.
“She has muscle, tissue and cartilage damage and her foot was too swollen to finish the operation,” April Smith said. “She is to have more surgery in two or three days.”
She said she was told her daughter was considered to be in fair condition Monday.
Megan was a passenger in a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by Devon Lacore, 16, of Gore at 9:48 p.m. Sunday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Lacore was westbound late Sunday night on Oklahoma 10A about 14 miles north of Gore in Sequoyah County when he ran off the right side of the road, striking an embankment. Lacore was not injured., according to the OHP report.
Another passenger in Lacore’s vehicle, Alisha Daniels, 16, also of Gore, also was taken to Sparks, where she was treated and released, the OHP report said.
All three were wearing seat belts, the OHP said.
