Kaden Martin, 9, is donating half of the money he received on his prize pig to Twin Hills Public School.

Livestock show winner donating winnings to his school

Whatever the money is used for, it should be something that when people see it, they will always be reminded of Kaden.

In addition to the bid he got at the Muskogee show, Kaden also had a pig in the auction at the county show and got another $600 from that sale.

He plans to take that and the excess from the regional show and put it into savings for the future, he said.

Darren Martin said Kaden puts a lot of time and effort into his hog project — he showed four head this spring and made it to a number of jackpot shows in addition to the area shows. Martin said a lot of people have helped his son be successful in the project, including the Haskell vo-ag teacher and the breeders of his animals, Richard Cunningham and Heath Wells.

You can help

Twin Hills School, west of the Jamesville Y, off Oklahoma 16, lost its main building to fire last month.

For a list of supplies and materials the school needs, go to www.twinhills.k12.ok.us/ or call the school at 733-2531.or attend the benefit pie auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the school cafeteria. Proceeds from that event will be used to replace all the little league equipment destroyed by the fire.
