Published March 17, 2008 12:21 am - Ag academy open to area students OK Farm Agriculture Education OKMULGEE — Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee is hosting the “Summer Academy for Advanced Technologies: Precision Agriculture” from June 8-13 for Oklahoma students in eighth, ninth and 10th grades.
Academy students will explore precision agriculture technologies including the use of geographic information systems, global positioning systems and their applications in precision agriculture. Students will gain insight to technologies through hands-on exercises using state-of-the-art equipment while experiencing college life on campus and in the classroom. They will also visit graduates on the job and learn how a college degree can help them realize their career goals. Students will stay in college dormitories and enjoy entertainment activities during the evenings. Students must submit the following information to be considered for admission: • A completed application postmarked no later than April 1. • An essay of 100 words or more on why you would like to attend the camp and how you think you will benefit if selected. • One letter of recommendation, which can be from your school teacher, counselor or administrator; or from an agriculture teacher or extension educator.
