Pastor wins inaugural Songfest

Ted Aukerman, a Muskogee pastor, won first place and $500 with his song, “Between the Cracks,” in the inaugural 2008 Songfest, a songwriting competition sponsored by the Muskogee Area Arts Council and nine other Muskogee organizations and businesses.

Aukerman and nine other Oklahoma artists or groups performed before a crowd of about 300 at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

Second place and $200 went to the Muskogee team of Scott Ward and Michael Gresham for “Bring You Home.” Three artists received honorable mention and $100: Rod Graham of Quapaw for “Searchin’ for My Rainbow,” E. Eugene Brown of Muskogee for “I Don’t See How,” and Jeremy Hart of Muskogee for “No Matter When, No Matter Where.”
