A Spiro man gave up his right to a preliminary hearing in Muskogee County District Court on Friday and announced his intent to plead guilty to home repair fraud next Friday.
Tony Tydus Boswell, 30, was charged in January with using deception and false pretenses to encourage an elderly Muskogee couple to let him spray a product on their roof. Court records say he told them the spray would seal the roof. But the price unreasonably exceeded the value of repair and materials, the filing states.
He has agreed to pay half the amount owed at the end of next week and the other half in six months. He charged the couple thousands of dollars.
Boswell has similar charges elsewhere. After pleading guilty in Tulsa County District Court on four counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, he failed to show up for a March 31 sentencing.
His new sentencing date in Tulsa County is Monday. He was transported to Tulsa County Jail after his Friday appearance here. A Muskogee jail booking officer said Boswell will then be returned to the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility, where he is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and a $5,000 bond.
Texas also has a hold on Boswell, prosecutors said.
