Muskogee police expect to seek nine felony charges against a man accused of attacking a Muskogee woman Saturday afternoon.
Capt. Scott Shields said officers will ask that four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of child endangerment and one count of use of force with intent to do bodily harm against another be filed against Julius Jerome Walker, 31, of Muskogee.
Walker is accused of beating Ronica Jenkins, 24, as she came to his home to pick up their two children, Shields said Sunday. She fled the scene in her car with one of the children inside, he said.
Walker pursued Jenkins in his car and rammed her car at least three times with his vehicle, Shields said.
The chase ended when Jenkins drove about 120 feet into the unpaved alley behind Office Depot at Arrowhead Mall and got her vehicle stuck at about 5:17 p.m. Emergency workers were summoned and Walker fled, Shields said.
Jenkins was flown to a Tulsa hospital, where she is expected to be for some time, Shields said.
“At this point in time, I believe her injuries are non life-threatening,” he said. “I believe she will survive but it will a difficult road for her.”
Shields said that in his 20 years of police work, this one of the worst assault cases he has worked.
“This one is bad — she’s lucky,” Shields said.
Walker was arrested about midnight Satuday at L Street and Broadway. He offered no resistance, Shields said.
Walker is being held without bond in Muskogee County/City Detention Facility.
District Attorney Larry Moore and Assistant DA James Walters were called to the scene Saturday afternoon and are prepared to review the officers reports and file charges as soon as possible, Shields said.
State Department of Corrections records show Walker has served two five-year prison terms for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
Jenkins obtained a protective order against Walker in March 2005, according to court records.
