Warner seventh-grader Billy Gardner has been recognized as a qualifier in both the State Recognition and Grand Recognition categories of the Duke University Talent Identificaton Program.
The Duke University Talent Identification Program is a non-profit educational organization recognized as a leader in identifying and serving the educational needs of academically gifted youth. The program provides resources to gifted students, parents, educators and schools for the development of the students’ optimal educational potential.
Students participating are part of a 16-state talent search.
Students qualifying for Grand Recognition are in the top 2 percent of the talent search pool, while those qualifying for State Recognition are in the top 30 percent. In Oklahoma there were 2,088 students in this year’s talent search and 718 qualified for State Recognition. There were 74,000 students in this year’s 16-state talent search and 1,805 qualified for Grand Recognition.
The State Recognition ceremony will be held at Tulsa University and the Grand Recognition ceremony will be held at Duke University.
