P.M. UPDATE: Warner High School names top scholars
Stephen Ashmore, Megan Keifer and Blaine Ross are valedictorians and Michelle Shoemaker is salutatorian at Warner High School.
Commencement will be 7 p.m. May 16 at the Warner Event Center.
Ashmore is the son of Steve and Vickie Ashmore and the grandson of Raymond and Mable McBee and of Hershel and Ethel Ashmore.
He has been active in the All-State Academic Team, was yearbook editor, Teens for Christ Co-Leader, Muskogee Daily Phoenix Academic All-Star, senior class treasurer, National Honor Society member, Student Council member, Oklahoma Indian Student Honor Society member, Warner First Baptist lead video coordinator and Crash Student Ministries worship band drummer.
His scholarships include Northeastern State University Honors Program, Oklahoma Christian PASS Scholarship and the University of Oklahoma Honors Scholarship. After graduation, Stephen plans to attend Northeastern State University and pursue a degree in computer science.
Kiefer is the daughter of James and Laurel Lee and the granddaughter of Dwane and Linda Skaggs and Bob and the late Nina Lee. She was a member and president of the National Honor Society. She was a student council member, class president and manager of both the basketball and baseball teams. She Muskogee Daily Phoenix Academic All-Star Top 10 Best of the Best, FCCLA officer and is a member of the Warner First Baptist Church. She received both the Connors State College valedictorian full tuition scholarship and acceptance into the President's Leadership Class. She also received the Farm Bureau Scholarship. She plans to attend Connors to obtain an associate’s degree in nursing.
Ross is the son of Phil and Sandy Ross and the grandson of Lee and Bobbie Hix and of the late J.S. and Peggy Ross. He has been active in baseball, basketball, football, National Honor Society as the chaplain, Student Council, class president, class treasurer, Academic Pursuit Team, Teens for Christ, Boys State, Muskogee Daily Phoenix Academic All-Stars Top 30. He is a member of the Warner First Baptist Church. He has received the Connors State College full tuition valedictorian scholarship and has been accepted into the President's Leadership Class. He plans to attend Connors and get an associate’s degree in business.
Shoemaker is the daughter of Marie Gibson and Dennis Shoemaker.
She has been on the Superintendent's Honor Roll and has displayed her skills as an artist. She completed high school a semester early and has been enrolled at Connors State College as a full-time student throughout the second half of her senior year.
She is the recipient of a full tuition Connors State College regent's scholarship. She plans to earn an associate’s degree in equine technology and earn an apprenticeship to a master farrier.
