People seeking success in their private and professional lives might say “It’s a Jungle Out There,” but the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce will offer ways to get through that jungle at its annual Success Expo on Tuesday.
The expo, which runs through the day at Arrowhead Mall, will feature a variety of seminars geared to helping people in their careers and personal lives. The seminars will be held in the Arrowhead Mall Six Theaters.
“The seminars are designed to help employers plan for training their employees,” said Janet Niezgoda, expo coordinator and vice president for marketing for the chamber. “It all comes back to employees improving their personal success, their career success and their leadership success.”
Niezgoda said people can register through today for free or at the door for a small fee.
Randy Clay, founder and owner of U.S. Safety Sign and Decal, will offer 10 “SuperQuick Commandments for Customer Service.
“A business is based on exchange of money and most businesses need customers,” Clay said. “Making sure you think of the customers ensures you will be in business for a good length of time.”
Clay began his company in 1983 at the age of 22. He said each of his 10 commandments covers a different aspect of business. But all can be encompassed in the belief “the customer comes first,” he said.
Leslie Moyer, founder and vice president of Sustainable Green Country, will offer ways on how to make businesses more environmentally friendly as well as economically efficient.
Moyer said Sustainable Green Country has offered ways to help homes become more environmentally friendly.
“In the office, you may be working with people who might not be on the same page as you,” she said. “However, a vast majority of these tips also will save you money. You will conserve resources as well as financial resources.
Moyer’s tips include setting the office printer to print on both sides of the page.
“Or go paperless,” she said.
Businesses also can offer flex time for workers, allow them to work from home or encourage carpooling or ride sharing, she said.
The expo also will feature 113 booths from area businesses and agencies, Niezgoda said.
