WAGONER — There are two holes in the photo display in Bernice and Bobby Scroggins’ living room. There’s an even bigger hole in their hearts. The open slots are from where they took photos of her son and granddaughter to be used in a video at their funeral services today. Darrell “Moe” Patterson, 26, and Tracy Berry, 19, were killed in the tornado that struck Picher on Saturday afternoon. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at New Beginnings Outreach Church. Separate services will be held in Picher for Berry’s husband, Samuel, 20, a native of that area. They were among six people killed when the storm suddenly swept through the small town, destroying several blocks of houses. Both Patterson and Tracy Garrison Berry are originally from Wagoner. Her sister, Kenna Garrison, was released from a Tulsa hospital Tuesday, where she was treated for injuries sustained in the storm. All four — Patterson, the Berrys and Garrison — were in a car trying to get away from the storm when it picked their vehicle up. “Kenna said the last thing she remembers is the car spinning around and around,” Regina Scroggins said. “She was sucked out of the car and ended up on the roof of a house that had collapsed.” Garrison had some broken bones and multiple cuts, but physically, she’s going to be all right, her grandmother said. Patterson was helping the Berrys move to Wagoner, where Bernice Scroggins had wanted them to live for some time. “We didn’t think it was safe up there anyway,” she said, referring to the lead contamination in the area. Samuel Scroggins had gotten home from military duty about six months ago. The couple had left their 7-month-old son, Lucas Don, with Tracy Berry’s mother, Tammy Patterson, while they finished moving. Her mother and son were not injured.
