Published May 21, 2008 12:43 pm - PM UPDATE: Fort Gibson scholarship winners announced The Fort Gibson Students Memorial Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 scholarships. The interest on the principal in the fund has allowed three $200 scholarships this year. The winners are:
Darcie Dieman, daughter of Mark and Cindy Dieman; Josh Huggins, son of Jim and Joyce Huggins; and Cade Roberts, son of Tom and Deanna Roberts. The Fort Gibson Students Memorial Scholarship Fund began in 1991, when six students at Fort Gibson High School lost their lives in a tragic accident. They were Jeremy Johnson, Kerry Walker, Patti Perryman, Amy Baird, Amanda Fowler and Chad Daugherty. Friends, family, and caring strangers wanted to memorialize these students. Thus the seed was planted to begin a scholarship fund that would brighten the future of some deserving senior at Fort Gibson High School.
