A Muskogee man charged with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in anticipation of accepting a negotiated plea deal that would require prison time.
Roy Levon Edwards, 60, is accused of using his relationship with a woman to befriend his alleged victim. Investigators said Edwards, 60, became somewhat of a father figure to his accuser then exploited that relationship. According to police reports, Edwards forced the child to have sex two or three times a week during a period of about two months.
Assistant District Attorney Nikki Baker Dotson said the family of the alleged victim supports the proposed plea deal, which would require Edwards to spend five years in prison. Wilson also would be required to complete a sex offender treatment program during his prison term and serve a probationary term of 15 years.
Edwards is free on a $50,000 bond.
