Published May 28, 2008 01:24 pm - BREAKING NEWS Former superintendent admits to embezzlement Former Marble City school superintendent Larry Duane Couch pleaded guilty Wednesday to three federal charges alleging he embezzled money from the school and cheated on his income taxes.
Couch agreed to forfeit property or make restitution of $979,000 and pay $109,948.41 for a state audit of school records. He faces a maximum of 18 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. However, Assistant U.S. Attorney Doug Horn said under federal sentencing guidelines, Couch likely will receive 37 to 46 months in prison. Sentencing is to be set after a presentence investigation, said U.S. Magistrate Kimberly West. While awaiting sentencing, Couch is to post a $10,000 bond and is to restrict travel to the Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma and the Western District of Arkansas, West said in her ruling.
