PM UPDATE: Independence Day shows set in area



July 3

• Muskogee Parks and Recreation. Love-Hatbox. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Fireworks will start around 9:15 p.m.
Information: 684-6302.

July 4

• First Assembly of God. Admission is free, and the only cost will be for concessions. The fireworks show won’t start until it’s dark, but there will be events leading up to the show. 682-9000.

• Fort Gibson. High school stadium. The show will begin at 9:15 p.m. and is free. Stadium seating will be available, but no concession. Information: 478-4780.

• 1840s Independence Day at the Fort Gibson Military Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Firing of guns and ceremony, 1 p.m. Admission: $5 adults, $2.50 seniors, $1 for students. Information: 478-4088.

• Wagoner. Football stadium. Free to the public. Live music will be from 7 p.m. until the fireworks show at 9 p.m. Other festivities begin at 4 p.m., and a children’s parade will be at 6 p.m. There will be no charge for use of the city’s water park during the afternoon. Free swimming also will be available. Concession will consist of 25-cent hot dogs, pop and water. Information: 485-3332.

• Lake Tenkiller. Fireworks show at the south end of the lake at the dam. Free. View from the lake or surrounding area. Information: 457-4403.

• Outlaw Motor Speedway, Sixth Annual Independece Day Special, 8 p.m. July 4. Modified showdown has pulled drivers from as far away as Minnesota. The Hooter Girls of Tulsa will also be here for the race night. Admission: $5 to $30; VIP Suites from $150. Information: Eric Shannon, 687-9200.
