Cleo Shamblin, a bus driver for Muskogee County Transit, finished 21st in a national bus operators driving competition June in Providence, R.I.
Shamblin won the Oklahoma Bus Operators Roadeo championship last fall in an event sponsored by the Oklahoma Transit Association. The victory meant Shamblin would represent the State of Oklahoma at the National Para-transit Roadeo produced by the Community Transportation Association of America. There were 84 drivers that qualified for the nationals.
Shamblin was the first MCT driver to claim the Oklahoma state title. Although in 1999 he did land the title of third in the state.
“We could not be more pleased or proud of his showing at the national level,” Faith Evans, MCT executive director, said. “To finish first in the Oklahoma competition and 21st in the nationals is a compliment to all the Oklahoma transit bus drivers.”
