PRYOR (AP) — A union representing workers at the former Georgia-Pacific plant in northeastern Oklahoma have sued the company seeking more than $1 million in damages.
The union claims the sheet rock plant didn’t comply with a federal law requiring companies to give 60 days of notice before a plant closes.
The plant in Pryor closed on June 9, leaving approximately 100 workers without jobs.
A union attorney filed the lawsuit against the Atlanta-based company this week at the federal court in Tulsa.
Georgia Pacific has said the plant closed because a drop in new construction lowered the demand for sheet rock.
