Tahlequah coach could face charges

A Tahlequah High School coach could face charges early next week following an arrest for driving under the influence and drug possession, according to an employee in the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.
Bret Russell Hamby, 49, baseball coach, was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Facility about 11:09 p.m. Sunday, according to booking records.
His blood alcohol content was reported to be 0.13, which is above the legal limit in Oklahoma of 0.08. He also was booked in for allegedly having marijuana in his possession and a controlled drug without a valid prescription.
Hamby was released from jail Monday at 10:43 a.m. after posting a $5,000 bond, jail records reflect.
