The positive identification of a dead body found Monday by a Muskogee fisherman could come today after dental records arrive, officials said.
Muskogee County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Smith said officials believe they know the identity, but a positive identification and notification of next of kin must be completed before the name is made public.
The person was in his 20s.
“There were no signs of trauma to the body and no broken bones,” Smith said a state medical examiner told officials Tuesday.
The body was found lying in debris in the Arkansas river by Roy Perry, 67.
A billfold with identification in it was on the body.
Smith said a medical examiner initially placed the time of death between a week and two weeks.
