Relatives have been notified that the dead body found July 7 by a Muskogee fisherman is believed to be that of Matt R. Neesmith of the Tulsa area.
A positive identification by the State Medical Examiner’s Office is pending until dental records are received, said Muskogee County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Jeff Smith.
“There were no signs of trauma to the body and no broken bones,” Smith said a state medical examiner told officials.
A billfold with Neesmith’s identification in it was on the body. Six tattoos on the body match tattoos on Neesmith, according to Oklahoma Department of Correction records, said Muskogee County Sheriff Charles Pearson.
The body was found in a large amount of river debris in what is commonly known as Webbers Falls Lake, Pearson said. Medical examiners believe the body had been there from one to two weeks when found.
