Investigators are trying to determine who was driving a truck that rolled over Sunday, killing a Muskogee mother of three. Brandy A. Wiedel, 33, was partially ejected from the back seat of a 2004 GMC extended cab pickup, said Muskogee Police Lt. Jerry Jaynes. The accident occurred about 2:44 a.m. at Gulick Street and Davis Field Road, officers said. Earlier, officials said that Wiedel’s husband, Justin, 32, along with his cousin, Scott Sherwood, 28, were in the front seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Neither of the men was injured. Wiedel was not at the scene of the crash when police arrived, Jaynes said Tuesday. Wiedel was home when an officer asked Wiedel to go to the hospital for a blood test. Alcohol blood tests done on both men may not be available for 30 to 45 days, officials said. A police dispatch log shows Justin Wiedel was stopped by police at 1:29 a.m. Sunday for one minute. He was in a gray sport utility vehicle. The officer who pulled Wiedel over could detect no odor of alcohol on Wiedel’s breath, said Maj. Mark Hudson. Sherwood first told police he was driving at the time of the fatal crash, then said he wasn’t, then later said again that he had been driving, officials said. That is a big part of the investigation — who was driving, Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore said Tuesday. The accident report won’t be released until more investigation is done as to who was driving the truck, Moore said.
