A Muskogee barber was arrested Friday after marijuana was seized from his business and home, police said.
Johnnie L. Tarkington, 52, was in his Tark’s Barber Shop at 612A N. York St. when arrested, said Police Lt. Bryan Stark, head of the Special Investigation Unit.
Search warrants were served simultaneously on his business and home, Stark said.
About a half pound of marijuana was seized at the business. About a pound of marijuana was seized from a building behind his home at 3106 Tull Place. Scales were seized from both addresses and $1,242 in cash was seized from Tarkington, Stark said.
Two marijuana buys by an undercover cop were recently made from Tarkington at the barber shop, Stark said.
“There was a whole lot more than haircuts and shavings going on at the old barber shop,” Stark said.
It appeared the room behind the house was a smoke room, he said. It had a computer and at least 80 “roaches” left after they had been smoked, he said. Roaches is a slang term for marijuana cigarette butts.
Tarkington was booked into Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on complaints of possession and distribution of marijuana.
