Cherokees officially take over W.W. Hastings Hospital By Keith PurtellPhoenix Staff Writer As a tribally-operated facility, Hastings will continue to receive IHS funds, but also be eligible for grants and joint-venture projects that could bring in millions in additional health care funding in the future, according to a Cherokee Nation media release. The nation currently receives more than $30 million in health care grants. As an IHS facility, Hastings wasn't eligible for those programs.
