Katelyn Acree of Porter received the American FFA Degree at the 82nd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on Oct. 24.

The American FFA Degree is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization and recognizes Acree's demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing and service program. Fewer than one in 154 FFA members advance through their local chapter and state FFA degree programs to earn this national degree.

Acree is a sophomore at Oklahoma State University and majors in Agriculture Business and Farm and Ranch Management. She is the daughter of Kent and Beth Acree of Porter and the granddaughter of J.W. and Bonnie Acree of Porter, Louise and Paul Johnson of Muskogee and O.D. Kennedy of Checotah.

Acree is a 2008 graduate of Porter Consolidated Schools, where she was an active member of the Porter FFA chapter. She was part of a state championship meat judging team in 2006, and part of a national meat judging title team in 2007. Acree continues to be active in Porter, serving as a 4-H volunteer for the Wagoner County 4-H Extension Office, and helps her dad raising pigs.
