Published October 31, 2009 11:45 pm - Braggs to dedicate memorial on Veterans Day A memorial to all Braggs veterans of World War II will be dedicated in ceremonies at 11 a.m. Nov. 11.
The memorial is part of The Braggs History Project. The memorial will be across from the Town Hall, on the southeast corner of Patrick and Monroe streets. There will be a flyover by the USAF Air National Guard of Tulsa. The Braggs History Project will host the ceremony, and all veterans and their families and friends are invited. Korean Conflict veteran Ken Hayes will speak, as well as several members of the community. A brass quintet from Northeastern State University will provide patriotic music. The Muskogee High School ROTC will post the colors. A 21-gun salute will be provided by Haskell American Legion Post 56. During the ceremony, a World War II Memorial monument donated to the City of Braggs by the Braggs History Project will be unveiled by Nancy Phillips of Braggs. This monument has more 300 names of veterans who were from Braggs, those who married during the war someone from Braggs, and those who moved to Braggs after the war and made it their home. Limited seating will be provided for older veterans and family members. Others are encouraged to bring chairs. The Braggs History Book Volume V will be available for sale after the ceremony.
