Wagoner holiday entertainment tickets on sale
Economic times might be tough, but the City of Wagoner is still offering some of the best value in the state in holiday entertainment, said Wagoner Mayor James Jennings.
“For well over a decade, we’ve offered Branson-quality entertainment for $2 per seat,” Jennings said. “This year, that’s a better value than ever. Where else can a couple, or even a family go and have a theater seat for a great musical evening?”
Tickets for this year's holiday concert series go on sale at 9 a.m. today at the Wagoner Civic Center. There are about 300 reserved tickets available for each show and another 50 people can be seated in temporary chairs in the auditorium, Jennings said.
“Some shows sell out, but even for those, when ticket holders don’t show up, those with ‘chair' tickets can move over into the empty theater seats when the show begins. These are always great shows for everyone,” he said.
The one thing that has changed for this year's shows is that there will not be the full-color brochure advertising the shows that the city has had the last several years.
Instead, the complete holiday schedule for Wagoner is available online at www.wagonercity.com under the entertainment tab, Jennings said. There also will be printouts available at City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce and local banks, so those who do not have Internet access may have access to them.
“This, along with the support of our sponsors, will enable us to continue to keep the price of admission to the $2 we have traditionally charged,” Jennings said.
This year’s Christmas shows include:
• Tammy Jackson and Random Sample, country group, Nov. 14, 15.
• Downtown Country, Northeastern State University performing troupe, Nov. 20, 21.
• Roustabouts, Northern Oklahoma College entertainment troupe, Dec. 5, 6.
• Our Master’s Voice, gospel group from Jenks, Nov. 22.
• Street Legal, Nov. 25.
• Ken and Tracy Grass, 50s rock and roll, Nov. 28 and Nov. 29.
• Homesteaders, variety show, Dec. 2.
