City Council



At its meeting Monday night, the Muskogee City Council approved:

• Estimated payroll of $875,000 for the pay period ending Nov. 14.

• Declaring the four lots on the corner of Lenapah and 12th streets as surplus property and authorize the sale of the property to Muskogee Housing Assistance for $652.

• Contracts with the American Municipal Services for the collection of warrants and past due terminated utility accounts.

• Mutual police assistance agreement with Wagoner County.

• Resolution of support for the 2010 United States Census and authorize the mayor to execute a partnership agreement indicating the areas of assistance with the U.S. Census Bureau.

• Industrial Pretreatment annual report.

• Appointment of Brad Smythe to the Parks and Recreation Board.

• Appointment of Wilma Newton to the Historic Preservation Commission.

• Ordinance establishing street commission.

• Receipt of petition asking the speed limit be increased from 35 mph to 45 mph on East Hancock Street from Country Club Road to East 55th Street. Speed limit is now 45 mph on portions of the road that are in the county. Issue is to come back to the Council in two weeks with the recommendation that the speed limit be changed to 45 mph on the city portions of the road.

• Agreement with the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce to promote and foster economic business and retail development within the city in the amount of $60,000.

• Agreement with Muskogee County Public Transit Authority to provide $190,000 in funding for the current fiscal year.

• Resolution creating a committee of the Council to review and make recommendations to the Council of possible revisions to the Muskogee City Charter.

• Holding an executive session to discuss and take possible action on possible purchase of property near Fire Station No. 1.
