The art work adorning patient rooms and common areas in the new hospital being constructed, Muskogee Community Hospital, will be from Muskogee area photographers.
The facility is expected to open in the first quarter of 2009.
Photographers of any age can send in their photos. They won’t be paid for their art.
“The prize is having your picture showcased in the best hospital around,” said Rachel Slavens of Muskogee Community Hospital.
“We hope photographers will take pictures of things in the community — from a football game to leaves changing, the landscape — people and things in Muskogee. Every place you can think of will have a piece of art.”
Photos submitted must be in color.
The hospital logo will be made up of two-inch photos of Muskogee people — a mosaic of people and color for everyone to see.
“A fairly easy way to upload the photos — put them on the Web site digitally,” Slavens said. “We want to get the community involved in the hospital in a positive way.”
Slavens says those wishing to submit photos should go to the hospital Web site at www.mch.ok.com. Click on the camera icon for further directions.
Entries will be accepted through Nov. 30.
“That will give us plenty of time to look them over,” Slavens said. “We won’t use every picture. But we’re hoping we get some really good ones.”
The photos may be horizontal or vertical, she said. Any entry used by the hospital becomes the property of the hospital, Slavens said.
