P.M. UPDATE: Honey springs event Saturday

November 15, 2007 07:54 pm

Visitors to the Honey Springs Battlefield near Rentiesville will have the opportunity Saturday to talk with re-enactors and question them about life and non-combat activities during the Civil War.
Several members of the 2nd Colorado Infantry will be on-hand to share their daily life "experiences" as Union soldiers with visitors.
"They'll see a little Union infantry camp," said Ralph Jones, Honey Springs superintendent. "It's not a 'see' program. It's a 'participate' program."
On July 17, 1863, Honey Springs Battlefield was the site of the most important Civil War battle fought in Indian Territory, resulting in a northern victory. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
