TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State University sophomore Elsie Whitehorn and her parents Randall Whitehorn, of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma, and Roselynn (Begay) Whitehorn, of the Navajo Nation, presented the Otoe-Missouria tribal flag to the NSU Center for Tribal Studies to commemorate American Indian Heritage Month at a ceremony held at the Bacone House.
“This is a great honor bestowed upon our tribe,” said Randall Whitehorn. “There are about 1,400 members our of tribe, which today has seven clans. Each of those clans is represented on the flag.”
The Otoe Missouria Tribe is headquartered at Red Rock, 24 miles north of Stillwater, and 17 miles south of Ponca City.
