Rifle fire kills one, wounds one in Coweta

Children present in home when father shoots his brother, then himself

Phoenix Staff Reports

— One man was killed and another injured in a double shooting Saturday in Coweta, a media release from the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office states.

Brothers Jeremiah Richard Roberts, 32, and Randall Eugene Grigg Jr., 33, began arguing after they had been drinking in their home, authorities state.

The argument escalated and Grigg shot Roberts multiple times with a rifle, killing him, before turning the weapon on himself.

Grigg was in critical condition in a Tulsa hospital Sunday, the release states.

Grigg’s spouse and nine children, ages 1 to 14, were at the home at the time of the shooting. Six of the children are Grigg's biological children.

Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert said, “I think it’s a tragedy this has occurred, especially during the holiday season.

“My heart goes out to these poor children in the home that unfortunately had to witness this event. I am working to have some mental health services made available to this family in the aftermath of this most unfortunate event.”

Both men were residents of the home, which is in the 25000 block of East 121st Street South, authorities said.
