Tulsa police search for local man in shooting

Murder warrant issued for Dwaine Ryder in slaying

— A first-degree murder warrant was issued for a Muskogee man in connection to a shooting death in Tulsa.

Dwaine Ryder, 29, shot and killed Emil Barron on Tuesday evening in Tulsa, said Tulsa Police Department Sgt. David Walker. Barron, 32, was shot at Tulsa’s Parkview Terrace Apartments, near West 61st Street and Union Avenue.

Dustin Chastain, with the U.S. Marshals Service, said the Eastern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Fugitive Taskforce is working with the Tulsa Police Department to locate Ryder.

“They are working leads on that guy,” Chastain said. “He has connections in Muskogee.”

Walker said Ryder was identified by people in the area who recognized him and saw the shooting.

“He’s probably involved in some minor drug dealing,” Walker said. “People have described him as always walking around, trying to hustle.

“People witnessed it. They identified him, and now he has a warrant.”

Ryder is described as about 6 feet tall, weighing between 220 and 230 pounds, Walker said.

Ryder was involved in a Muskogee shooting July 8, when he said a man walked up to him and his girlfriend and began shooting at them. A Muskogee man was charged with shooting with intent to kill and arrested July 13. That charge was dismissed, Assistant District Attorney Dan Medlock said, because Ryder didn’t appear at the man’s preliminary hearing.

Anyone with information about Ryder’s whereabouts can call Tulsa Police Department’s Crimestoppers at (918) 596-COPS or the homicide department’s tip line at (918) 798-8477.
