Swons in ‘Voice’ finale

Muskogee brothers in running for top spot

Swon Brothers’ fans at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame were more tense than a guitar string as they awaited results of NBC’s “The Voice.”

Just before the final announcement, one woman said, “I’m going to hurl.”

But no one hurled, and Zach and Colton Swon were left on stage with contestants Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington at the end of the show.

Michelle Chamuel and Danielle Bradbery had already been told they would be in next week’s finale.

Family, friends and fans at OMHOF waited anxiously, some with their faces covered, some bent in prayer and many throwing up the “Swon Salute” invented by Adam Levine on Monday’s show.

The popular singing competition waited until the absolute last moment to announce Muskogee’s Swon Brothers will perform in the show’s finale at 7 p.m. Monday.

Every last person in the room at the OMHOF, which was packed for Tuesday’s “Swatch Party,” jumped to his feet.

And the brothers’ mother, Tammy Swon, shed a few tears.

Executive Director of OMHOF Jermaine Mondaine reminded everyone after the show about how important voting is for the Swon Brothers. Then, he saw Tammy standing on stage too.

“Looks like Momma Swon is going to sing, so I’m going to hand the mic to her,” Mondaine said, smiling.

Tammy didn’t sing, but she did thank everyone at the OMHOF for supporting her sons.

“We could not have gotten so far without your support. You have all been a huge part... ” she said, and paused to wipe a few tears away.

A few people in the audience said softly, “Don’t cry. Don’t cry.”

“You have all been a huge part of their dream, and you are so important to our family. Thank you so much,” Tammy said.

The Swon Brothers compete against country singer Danielle Bradbery, also a Team Blake member, and pop singer Michelle Chamuel from Team Usher in next week’s finale.

The show airs at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
