A pretrial conference for a former Cherokee County volunteer fire chief who is facing forgery and embezzlement charges has been postponed.
Roger Dale Fine, 54, is charged with 16 counts of delivery of a forged note or instrument and one count of embezzlement, according to an indictment issued in October by a multicounty grand jury.
A spokesperson for the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office said the pre-trial conference, which was scheduled for Monday, has been continued for about 60 days. The Attorney General’s office has mailed a request to the presiding Cherokee County judge to schedule a new date, the spokesperson said.
Fine was the fire chief of the Peggs Volunteer Fire Department as well as a Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy.
He has been suspended as a deputy.
