Woman charged with abuse waives hearing

A Muskogee woman facing child abuse charges waived her preliminary hearing Friday, court documents state.

Monica Lynn McCosar, 26, is charged with child abuse, child endangerment-permitting abuse, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

McCosar is scheduled for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in Muskogee County District Court.

McCosar was arrested Christmas Eve.

Court documents state McCosar was intoxicated Christmas Eve when she attempted to drive off from a convenience store with three children in the vehicle.

Customers stopped her from leaving with the children — ages 2, 5 and 9.

McCosar also had a small container of marijuana in her coat pocket.

She also pushed one of her children “by the face back into the seat of the vehicle,” the document states.

McCosar remained in the Muskogee County/City Detention Center on Friday. Bond is set at $25,000, a jail representative said.
