Early voting draws 94 ballots

— Muskogee County election officials reported 94 voters cast absentee ballots during the two-day in-person voting period in advance of Tuesday’s municipal elections.

Kelly Beach, Muskogee County Election Board secretary, said 39 voters cast ballots  Thursday. Another 55 voters cast early ballots Friday.

“The fact that 39 people voted on Thursday really is kind of impressing,” Beach said, noting this is the first municipal election here since the rules were changed in November to feature early voting on Thursdays. “That shows me people are paying attention anyway.”

Because of the new election provisions that changed the dates of in-person absentee voting, there will be no early voting Monday. Precinct polling in an election that features four City Council races will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
