Bond set for teens held in shooting

Local teens back in court Oct. 18 in Wagoner case

Bonds and court dates were set Thursday for two Muskogee teenagers arrested in connection with a Wagoner shooting.

Dominique Jarrod Wright, 18, was ordered held on $250,000 bond on a complaint of accessory to shooting with intent to kill.

Wright was arrested early Wednesday morning in a vehicle with a juvenile male, who was also arrested.

The juvenile is jailed on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill and is held on $500,000 bond. Both are being held in the Wagoner County Detention Center.

The juvenile, who is 21 days away from his 18th birthday, is accused of shooting Brent Blue, 18, just after 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Both teens will be back in Wagoner County District Court at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18. Charges on the two could be filed by the end of next week said District 27 District Attorney Brian Kuester.

Kuester said a determination if the juvenile would be charged as a youthful offender would be made when all the police reports are filed with his office.

Wagoner Police Department Deputy Chief Tony Ponds released more information Thursday about the shooting. Ponds said a woman called police about 4:30 a.m. saying she had heard gunshots. Officers met with the woman, who said she saw two black males leaving in an older blue/green Buick.

The woman also said a man she knew only as “Blue” came to her door and said he’d been shot.

“He was shot in the face and in the upper left side of his chest,” Ponds said. “He’s very lucky.”

Ponds said Wagoner police circulated a description of the vehicle, which was found minutes later in Muskogee.

“Chief Bob Haley really wanted to thank the Muskogee Police Department for their help quickly apprehending these guys,” Ponds said. “They, along with our police and a deputy here worked together to quickly get these guys. It helps us make the community safe when we all work together.”

Ponds said Muskogee officers who pulled the vehicle over spotted a .38 caliber handgun under a seat. Ponds said Wagoner police are in possession of the gun and vehicle.
