13 county stores pass tobacco sales check

— The regional prevention coordinator for Neighbors Building Neighborhoods of Muskogee recently conducted tobacco compliance checks or “reward/reminder visits” at 13 stores in Muskogee County.

These visits remind stores to accurately check identification and not sell tobacco products to customers who are younger than 18.

Neighbors Building Neighborhoods reported that all 13 outlets tested refused to sell tobacco to a 16-year-old, for a total compliance rate of 100 percent for Muskogee County.

Reward/reminder visits work with comprehensive community efforts to dramatically reduce illegal sales to minors.
