FG man convicted of molesting girl

He faces more than two decades behind bars

— Jurors recommended a Fort Gibson man found guilty of molestation face the full sentence allowed by law.

Jess Clyde Wilson Sr., 67, was convicted Friday of two counts of lewd molestation and one count of lewd or indecent proposal to a child under 16.

Jurors recommended 25 years for each molestation count and 10 for the indecent proposal count.

Under state law, lewd molestation is an 85 percent crime, which means Wilson faces at least 21 years and three months in prison. He is to return to court at 1:30 p.m. June 10 for sentencing.

He was accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl at his home in Fort Gibson in January 2011.

Jurors watched a video recording this week of the girl’s interview with Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Coletta Peyton.

Peyton asked the girl, “Do you know why you’re here?”

“Because (Wilson) raped me,” the girl said.

Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Tim King told jurors that Wilson preyed upon the girl while her parents were having sex in an adjacent room.

The girl said Wilson asked whether she knew what her parents were doing, Peyton testified.

The girl said no, and Wilson told her they were having sex. He then had her perform oral sex on him and briefly performed it on her, the girl said.

The jury saw images of the girl’s shirt — a black cheerleader shirt — with at least two clearly visible stains.

A criminalist in the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation testified that 13 stains on the shirt were identified for testing. Four of the stains tested positive for semen.

In testimony Thursday, Wilson denied all of the girl’s claims. He said the girl and her brother were known to “lie when the truth fit better.”

Wilson also said the girl could have gotten the stains on her shirt, which he said she wore all the time, while rolling around in his bed.
