Deputies arrest two after high-speed chase Sunday

— Two men were arrested by Muskogee County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday after a high-speed chase through a field and on county roads between Davis Field Airport and Keefeton.

Muskogee County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Mohr said deputies responded to a report of a stolen trailer shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday.

After a perimeter was set up around the airport, officers found a black Ford pickup and trailer in a field near 83rd Street South. Officers in four-wheel drive vehicles chased the truck, driven by Scott Allen Gillette, 39, of Iowa, Mohr said.

The truck went south on South 25th Street East and ran through several stop signs before it was stopped.

Mohr said a passenger, Raymond Lewis, 33, jumped out of the moving truck, but was caught. He was taken into custody and taken to EASTAR Health System.

Mohr said Gillette also was arrested.

Mohr said drug paraphernalia and controlled dangerous substances were found in the truck. The sheriff’s office is taking an inventory of other items found.
