Hammons sets his law school schedule

Former Mayor John Tyler Hammons announced Thursday that he will enter the University of Oklahoma Law School during the 2012 summer term.

Hammons will study in the university’s joint degree program, pursuing a law degree and master’s degree in business administration simultaneously.

“OU is kind of a family tradition,” Hammons said, noting that he will receive his undergraduate degree from OU in May. “I’m in the process of buying a home in Norman — it’s a dream come true.”

Hammons said his primary interest was corporate law, primarily mergers and acquisitions as they relate to tribal law. The two-term mayor said he would miss Muskogee but that he was ready for the next chapter in his life.
