Blood donors can show their community pride and school spirit by donating blood to the Oklahoma Blood Institute, according to a media release.
The community blood drive is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the JC Penney court inside Arrowhead Mall, 501 N Main St.
Donors will receive their choice of a free University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University blood donor T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to this year’s bedlam game in Stillwater.
“Someone needs blood every two seconds,” said Dr. John Armitage, president and chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Blood Institute. “That is why we are asking everyone to show community spirit through blood donation along with their Oklahoma school pride this football season.”
Through a special initiative to support Global Blood Fund, donors may forgo the T-shirt and designate the associated costs as a contribution. GBF is a nonprofit organization that provides blood center technology and supplies to struggling blood centers around the world.
