A Muskogee man was charged Friday in Muskogee County District Court after allegedly taking a car from a city dealership.

Austin, 18, allegedly took a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro from Riverside Autoplex on Wednesday and attempted to run over an employee, according to a court document. He drove to his home in the 2400 block of Elizabeth Ave.

Police arrested Austin after finding him hiding in a storm shelter on the property.

He is being held at the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on a $25,000 bond.

Austin has a sounding docket scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 30. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled then.
