U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin will take time next week to meet with constituents during a series of town hall meetings.
The Westville Republican plans to make stops Wednesday in Tahlequah, Muskogee, Eufaula and Sallisaw. Mullin staffers said the town hall meetings will give the congressman a chance to update his 2nd District constituents about recent events in Washington and get local feedback.
Wednesday’s town hall meetings are three of 16 stops Mullin has scheduled across the 2nd Congressional District beginning Tuesday and wrapping up Friday. Mullin’s town hall tour, the first since he was sworn into office, will kick off Tuesday in Pryor and end Friday in Durant.
“I’ve said from the very beginning that no one would outwork us, and I meant it,” Mullin said about the upcoming round of town hall meetings. “We want to be very proactive to stay in contact with the District.”
Mullin conducted an extensive listening tour in December after returning from Washington and completing the orientation process. Mullin visited all 26 counties that make up the eastern Oklahoma congressional district that stretches from Kansas to the Red River.
“I’m committed to doing town hall events often so there can be a constant line of communication available,” Mullin said. “I’m looking forward to a busy travel schedule during the week, and I want to encourage members of the public to attend and ask questions.”
Mullin staffers said the congressman also plans to tour the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center during his stop in Muskogee. While there, he will visit with hospital administrators and patients.
