Drive collects thousands of items for food pantry

Erin Hester, a program director with the Muskogee Housing Authority, left, volunteer Pat Southern and Don Brooks, also with the housing authority, unload food donations from Muskogee Housing Authority at the First Baptist Church Food Pantry on Wednesday afternoon. Muskogee Housing Authority staff donated more than 3,700 of non-perishable food items to the pantry. The donation was a result of the agency’s “Stick it to Hunger” food drive contest held in March, said Muskogee Housing Authority Director Blake Farris in a media release. Teams of employees competed against each other in the contest, and the winning team was responsible for more than 1,500 items, according to the release.
