BOYNTON — Two incumbents and one newcomer won Eufaula City Council elections Tuesday.

Frank Davis received enough votes to defeat two challengers without needing a runoff for the Ward 1 seat. Davis received 144 votes, or 54.8 percent of the vote. Frank Kucish received 74 votes, or 28.1 percent; Brenda Lee Otis received 45 votes, or 17.1 percent.

Incumbent Ward 2 council member Donald Berryhill defeated Beverly Ribaudo. Berryhill received 188 votes, or 77.7; Ribaudo received 54 votes, or 22.3 percent. Ward 2 is for a two-year unexpired term.

Incumbent Ward 3 council member Jim Self defeated Kenneth M. Sloan. Self received 168 votes, or 69.4 percent; Sloan received 74 votes, or 30.6 percent.

Davis takes the seat being vacated by David Johnson. He said he starts April 15.

“The voters had enough confidence in me that I can do the job they want me to do,” said Davis, 53.

He said improving the water system and streets are “equally important” and that he looks forward to working with other council members.

“You’re not going to agree with everyone, but we’ve got to work together to get things accomplished,” Davis said.

Self, 70, said he plans to carry on what the Eufaula City Council has been doing.

“All I can do is oil the wheels and keep moving,” Self said. “All I can do is work with the council and the different committees we have so we can keep moving forward and not return to our stagnant state.”

Berryhill, 48,  said he is thrilled to death to be re-elected.

“I appreciate all the people who came up and voted,” Berryhill said, adding that his main priority is to get the water and sewer lines up to date.
