Pedestrian causes crash; two men hurt

One man is in critical condition and another was injured Saturday after one of them stepped in front of traffic on a Muskogee County highway.

Robert Terrell, 20, of Keota is in critical condition at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa with internal, head, leg and arm injuries, a hospital spokesperson said.

Terrell got into an argument at the Circle V bar and left its parking lot to “flag down traffic” on the highway, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated.

Terrell stepped on Oklahoma 2 south about two miles south of Porum about 10 p.m. and was struck by a 2003 Ford, OHP stated.

The vehicle was driven by Debra Ratliff, 20, of Kinta. She was not injured, the report stated. The passenger, Robby Lee Ratliff, 43, also of Kinta, was taken to EASTAR Health System with head injuries. His condition was not available Monday.

Airbags were equipped but did not deploy.

Both Ratliffs were wearing seatbelts.

The cause of the collision was pedestrian action, according to OHP.
