Cherokee Nation’s W.W. Hastings Hospital and all eight tribally operated health centers began Tuesday administering 90-day prescriptions of certain medications to patients.
The Cherokee Nation Tribal Council passed a legislative act in May mandating the provision of 90-day prescriptions to make it easier for Cherokee citizens who may pick up medicines monthly.
Cherokee Nation providers, at their discretion, may issue patients a 90-day prescription, and because of monitoring purposes, safety issues and federal laws, not all medications will be considered.
For those eligible, they can receive 90-day prescriptions at their health center or in the mail and are able to use the online pharmacy to request prescription refills.
