Federal gun charge names city man

A Muskogee man was indicted in federal court Wednesday on a weapons-related charge, a media release states.

Michael Wayne Cherry, 47, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The indictment alleges Cherry, who was previously convicted of a felony, possessed a shotgun on or about Sept. 4.

If convicted, Cherry faces up to 10 years imprisonment and/or up to a $250,000 fine.
