MPS board picks Walmart manager

During a special school board meeting Thursday, the Muskogee Public Schools Board of Education voted to appoint Mike Ebert of Muskogee to fill the seat recently vacated by Stacy Alexander, a media release states.

Ebert, the manager of the Muskogee Walmart, said: “I’m extremely honored to be asked to finish up the term that was vacated. It is important to me that we have good leadership on the school board. Both of my daughters graduated from Muskogee High School and had a great experience there. I think we have a great team of administrators and teachers, and I’m just excited to be a part of that team.”

Superintendent Mike Garde said Muskogee Public Schools is thankful for Ebert’s willingness to fill the seat.

“The school board said they feel like he’s the best fit, and we agree,” Garde said. “So, we are delighted to have Mr. Ebert on the board.”

Alexander was eliminated from the board because she did not achieve the required state-mandated training.
